Pete Sugg was born in Redditch and after leaving college and spending a year working in the US he settled back in Redditch where he still lives. For leisure Pete takes part in charity runs, manages the England Blind Cricket team and enjoys the local weekly pub quiz. Pete has been married for 32 years and has 2 children

Pete has worked as a Manager in Worcestershire for the last 39 years. He has a wealth of management experience in the Voluntary and Statutory Sector locally. He started his career as a Play Officer with Redditch Play Council and then moved to work at Redditch YMCA in a variety of management roles over 15 years.

In 2003 Pete moved to Worcestershire County Council as a Commissioning Manager where he commissioned a range of initiatives including the Children’s Fund and Early Help.

In all these projects he championed the role of the Voluntary and Community Sector as a key provider of services in Worcestershire, having led a number of Strategic Partnerships in the region, always ensuring the voices of the voluntary sector and young people are heard.

Pete is a champion of minority groups and has a particular interest in disability services. Since becoming a member of the Town Deal Board Pete has ensured that the voices of young people are now heard loud and clear, as the projects the Town Deal Board are co-ordinating come to fruition. Pete’s particular area of interest is Disability Sport and in the past 30 years he has helped to set up Special Olympics in the town and countywide, and is currently is the Chair of Disability Sport Worcestershire.

Pete is the current Chair of the Redditch Youth Forum which champions the voice of young people in the town.
